Welcome to Nori, a delightful Japanese restaurant nestled in the heart of New Malden (KT3 4BY). Located at F1, 41 High St, this culinary gem offers an authentic taste of Japan with a menu that brims with flavor and freshness. Whether you're in the mood for tender sushi, flavorful sashimi, or rich, savory izakaya dishes, Nori caters to all those cravings and more.
As soon as you step inside, you're welcomed by a cozy setting that perfectly embodies the traditional izakaya aesthetic, with booths providing an intimate dining experience and sake bottles adorning the walls. It's ideal for those seeking a tranquil meal away from the hustle and bustle. The ambiance sets the stage for a wonderful culinary journey.
One of the standout features of Nori is its diverse cocktail selection, including unique offerings like the Strawberry Kiss and refreshing Sake Mojito, each priced around £9.00. For a taste adventure, try the Yuzu Citrus or the delightful Okinawa Blue, which add an exciting twist to the dining experience.
Nori's sushi offerings do not disappoint, showcasing a variety of nigiri and sashimi options. Diners can indulge in the silky Hamachi (£8.00) or Ama Ebi (£10.00), while the Sashimi Omakase is a must-try for those wanting the chef's best advice. Many customers have praised the authentic and bursting flavors of the dishes, likening them to a true taste of Japan.
However, while the food is consistently lauded for its quality, the service has seen mixed reviews. Some diners, like Daniel James and E Man, have noted the splendid service and friendly staff, while others felt the service could improve, particularly during busy hours. Despite these hiccups, many agree that the delicious food is well worth a visit, with standout dishes like the Karaage sharing platter and Fried Tofu earning rave reviews.

I really enjoyed the food at Nori – it's authentic and full of flavour! If you're looking to try real traditional dishes, this is definitely the right place. However, the smell inside the restaurant wasn’t very pleasant, and the overall hygiene could be better. The staff are friendly but seemed a bit too busy chatting with each other, so I had to call them a couple of times to get their attention. Still, the quality of the food makes up for it – I’ll definitely be back.

Omg! Delicious food but even more than that brilliant service! Our server, Steven was a very polite and charming young man. He treated us with patience when me and my autistic non-verbal son came in. An absolute angel and food was delicious. We got the tuna and chicken teriyaki.. absolutely delicious. Will recommend!

Nori, New Malden The food here is fantastic — fresh, authentic, and bursting with flavour. The Karaage sharing platter, Fried Tofu, and Butadon (pickles included) all transported me straight back to Japan. Easily the highlight of the visit. The setting, with booths and sake bottles lining the walls, really captures the Izakaya feel. The downside was the service. We had a 17:00 reservation, but the restaurant wasn’t ready, and staff felt indifferent throughout and we found out after the fact that the drink selection was a little limited. Having worked in hospitality, I know how much attentive service can elevate a meal, and that was missing here. That said, the food alone makes it worth visiting again. If the service catches up to the kitchen, Nori could be truly outstanding.

Delicious lunch menu my kids had the udon soup and I had salmon set. The service is excellent, staff helpful and friendly. Wasn't too busy so nice and relaxing. My daughters are quite picky but they loved the broth in the udon and the rice was very tasty too.
